Lu Dai of Qualcomm Elected Chair of the Board of Accellera

Elk Grove, Calif., February 13, 2017 -- Accellera Systems Initiative (Accellera), the electronics industry organization focused on the creation and adoption of electronic design automation (EDA) and intellectual property (IP) standards, announced today that Lu Dai, a member of the Accellera Board of Directors for two years and senior director, engineering at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., has been elected as Chair of the Board of Accellera.  He replaces Shishpal Rawat who recently retired from Intel.

As Chair of the Board of Accellera, Mr. Dai sees that the Board is advised on all significant matters of the organization's business. The Chair represents Accellera between meetings of the Board within the boundaries established by the Board and as set forth in Accellera’s Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws.

“I would like to thank the Accellera Board for their support and placing their trust in me,” stated Mr. Dai.  “I am looking forward to continuing our commitment to open standards and interoperability.  As we move into 2017 we have a lot to look forward to with some significant advancements such as the upcoming releases of UVM-SystemC, SystemC CCI with an updated Proof of Concept Implementation, and SystemRDL 2.0, as well as developments in our emerging Portable Stimulus standard.  I’d like to encourage involvement and feedback in our online communities so that we can continue to evolve and improve our member website as a destination for standards development and learning.”

“On behalf of the Accellera members, I would like to welcome Lu as Chair of Accellera.  We are looking forward to his expertise and leadership to guide us in our standardization efforts in the coming years,” stated Stan Krolikoski, long-serving director and officer of Accellera and distinguished engineer at Cadence Design Systems, Inc.  “We’d also like to thank Shishpal for all of his hard work and dedication to the mission of Accellera for the past six and a half years.  Under his leadership, Accellera membership grew almost 60 percent and numerous standardization efforts have made significant progress, most recently the release of SystemC AMS to the IEEE Standards Association as IEEE 1666.1™-2016 and the delivery of UVM 1.2 to IEEE for standardization.”

Dennis Brophy will continue to serve as Vice Chair and Mr. Krolikoski will continue to serve as secretary and was also elected treasurer. Accellera is governed by its Board of Directors and managed by officers elected by the Board.  Officers and board members are elected for one-year terms, and may be re-elected annually.  A complete list of officers and directors can be found here.
