Accellera Systems Initiative Names Stan Krolikoski Recipient of 2013 Leadership Award
Award recognizes Krolikoski's vision, decades of contributions to EDA and IP Standards
Napa, Calif., USA, 30 May 2013 - Accellera Systems Initiative (www.accellera.org), the electronics industry organization focused on the creation and adoption of electronic design automation (EDA) and intellectual property (IP) standards, has named Dr. Stanley Krolikoski as the recipient of its annual Leadership Award. The Award recognizes the vision, leadership and contribution to standards development, governance and promotional activities of the organization. The Award will be presented at the Design Automation Conference during the Accellera Systems Initiative breakfast and town hall meeting, June 3.
"Stan is a pioneer in our industry and has played an integral role in the development of EDA standards used worldwide," said Shishpal Rawat, Accellera Systems Initiative chair. "He has been engaged longer than any other individual in standards development, from the early days in VHDL, to the groundbreaking work he did with the Open SystemC Initiative, to the work he continues with us today such as the IP rights policy. We appreciate his many contributions to Accellera. It is exemplary leadership like his that makes Accellera the foremost standards development organization for the EDA and IP industry."
"Through the years, I have learned that standards are about collaboration as well as innovation," said Stan Krolikoski, distinguished engineer at Cadence Design Systems, Inc. "You can't have one without the other. It is truly a privilege to be honored with this award, and to be recognized by my peers with whom I have worked alongside for many years. Working together, we've served the EDA and IP industry with the pivotal standards we developed. I look forward to continued collaboration and the next 20 years of standards innovation."
Dr. Krolikoski is recognized for his significant impact on the EDA industry both within Accellera and in its predecessor organizations. He has served as an officer of several standards initiatives for over 25 years. These include the VHDL Users' Group / VHDL International (VI), Open Verilog International (OVI), Analog VHDL International, Accellera, Open SystemC Initiative (OSCI), and The SPIRIT Consortium.
Accomplishments:
- He is a co-founder of Accellera, and one of the key individuals that brought VI and OVI together to form the organization in 2000
- He is co-founder and early chair of the IEEE DASS, and current chair of the IEEE DASC
- He served as the SystemC P1666 chair for six years he served as chair of IEEE 1076, which developed VHDL '93
- He was the first US representative to the IEC TC 93 (EDA) Working Group
- He helped start the dual logo process with the IEEE in the mid-1990s that has positively affected several Accellera standards
- He played a pivotal role in the development of OSCI and the SystemC open source implementation; later he helped with the merger of OSCI and Accellera to form Accellera Systems Initiative
Currently, Stan serves as a board member of Accellera Systems Initiative and heads IP rights policy committee, which defines it operating procedures tightly based on IEEE doctrines. He is the chair of the IEEE Computer Society's Design Automation Standards Committee (DASC).
